English (EAL) Stream
Confidence, communication and culture!
Discovering Britain is an enquiry-based programme which is the basis of Rugby School Short Course’s EAL module for A1/A2 learners. Through observation, discussion, collaboration, investigation and reflection, students explore aspects of contemporary British life while developing the confidence to communicate in English.
The programme is built around a single overarching enquiry:
What have I discovered about Britain?
The ambition is that, by the end of the programme, students will feel more confident using English to talk about their experiences in Britain, compare aspects of life in Britain with those in their own country, and share information about the people, places and activities that have made their visit memorable.
Rather than focusing on grammar alone, the programme encourages students to notice, describe, compare and communicate. Lessons make use of experiences both inside and outside the classroom and provide meaningful opportunities to develop speaking, listening, reading and vocabulary in authentic contexts.

2-week (13 night) full board course: 30+ hours tuition with excursions and activities. Ages 13+

Discovering Britain
Our EAL students enjoy small classes (max 15) where professional EAL teachers are able to work closely with them to develop their use of English and confidence in communicating. The central theme of discovering Britain is supported with fantastic excursions to locations such as Oxford and London as well as exploring our beautiful school campus and nearby town. There are many opportunities to join their international peers in the other streams when we come together for activities and evening socials.
